Pilates for Backcare

This workshop is for all people who suffer from back pain, whether it is a specific condition or just a general, undiagnosed pain.
It offers an interactive, lecture style element to present more about how the spine functions, the causes of pain and how we can take steps to prevent this. We discuss strategies for managing existing conditions and the important role Pilates plays in this.
The practical element of the workshop guides participants through a series of Pilates exercises tailored to the severity of back pain they have that will actively reduce the impact back pain has on their lives. There are progressions as recovery occurs as well as advice on how to take other safe exercise and more general Pilates and other fitness classes. A take home programme is given out to progress between sessions.
Pilates Conditioning for Runners

As a runner you’ve probably heard about the ‘core’ and its importance in performance enhancement and injury prevention. But if your idea of a core workout is crunches at the end of your run, you’ll wreak havoc on your low back and ultimately your running performance.
This workshop aims to redress that. The correct Pilates based warm ups, cool downs and conditioning between runs will activate and strengthen your core, support your spine and correct any muscular imbalances. As you build greater core strength and control, your posture improves leading to a more efficient running form and an easier run breath pattern. In addition your energy levels improve because you’re not fighting gravity all day and you are protecting yourself from potential over use injuries!
So whether you are a newbie to running attempting your first couch to 5k, a regular runner looking to up your performance or you are seriously aiming for a marathon, this very practical workshop is for you. Everyone who attends gets a take home programme too.
Beginners Fundamental Pilates

This course is ideal for complete beginners, bad back sufferers and newbies to our classes looking to develop a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of the Pilates Method.
We explore the key to correct centering and control as well as breath and alignment and how these lead to deeper Pilates exercises. These fundamentals are established in your mind and body setting you up for greater success in future Pilates practice.
Friendly, relaxed non intimidating atmosphere guaranteed and an ideal introduction to Pilates for all. Take home programme included too.

Pre and Post Natal Fitness and Pilates

A one off workshop or series of classes to guide pregnant women and new mums through the safe, yet effective way to exercise in this special time for their bodies. Pre Natal we look at how to tailor exercise to ensure safety for the woman and her unborn child in the gym and class environment. We look at how the three trimesters of pregnancy differ and how to exercise accordingly. Post Natal we look at how a woman can safely return to her pre pregnancy shape and fitness levels given the rigours her body has gone through and the challenges she has looking after a newborn. A 25 page booklet of information is given out and exercise plan.
